Childhood
In the midst of war at Castrum Oriens, a conscripted battle mage named Marthe Rozenkreuz found a young Miqo'te boy who had lost his memory. Marthe felt sorry for him and decided to adopt him to keep him safe from the war.Although the boy was initially wary because of his distrust of Garleans, he eventually learned to trust Marthe. Marthe became like a parent to him, and the boy started calling him 'Mom'.With no memories of his past, Madison's origins remained a mystery, leading Marthe to investigate. Marthe suspected Madison may have ties to the M tribe at The Peering Stones in The Fringes. Through his inquiries, Marthe uncovered the tragic story of Madison's family, who had attempted to flee to Gridania for refuge but met a devastating end, leaving Madison as the sole survivor, afflicted by dissociative amnesia due to the trauma endured.When Marthe officially adopted the boy, he named him 'Madison Tyr' adhering to Miqo'te conventions by adding a tribe-representing letter to his forename. However, Marthe accidentally misspelled his surname as 'Tyr' instead of 'Tia' because he wasn't familiar with the Eorzean language.'Madison' means 'a gift from gods' and 'strong during battles'.
The name rang well with the boy's personality.
Determined to provide the best for Madison, Marthe arranged for personal tutors to educate him in both academics and combat, sparing no effort amidst the chaos of war. Additionally, Marthe gifted Madison with a loyal companion—a Garlean bullpup rejected from the K9 unit—who brought joy to Madison's life.Subsequently, Marthe applied for a change of station to Werlyt under Gaius, the Viceroy at the time, where several reforms had already been initiated to create a better environment. Echo
During his teenage years under the care of Marthe in Werlyt, Madison's Echo manifested, triggering random visions after he witnessed a starshower. Initially dismissing them as "daydreams", Madison confided in Marthe about the snippets he saw. Concerned by his son's unusual manifestation, Marthe sought answers and turned to a Garlean conscripted scientist friend for evaluation. Confirming Madison's Echo abilities marked the beginning of Marthe's worries, as the Garlean Empire considered those with the Echo as adversaries, raising fears of potential repercussions.
Madison's Echo often activates instinctively, but he demonstrates a natural aptitude for using it, particularly in combat, where he can predict enemy attacks by sensing aether shifts. However, he grapples with challenges such as debilitating headaches preceding visions and difficulty distinguishing reality from memories and prescience, leading to frustration and disorientation.Determined to safeguard Madison, Marthe devised a covert plan. Arriving in Eorzea
Madison was excited to leave for Ul'dah, believing Marthe had granted him the freedom for an adventure.Arriving in the bustling capital city, Madison felt overwhelmed by its size, noise, and crowds. His first day was tough, with his wallet stolen, but Zohar Eisberg, a Xaela Au Ra, came to his rescue. Grateful for Zohar's help, Madison expressed his feelings with a child-like grin, leaving a lasting impression. It was Madison's first time in such a bustling city, and he found it hot, confusing, and foreign. He felt exhausted and constantly on guard. But with Zohar's support, Madison felt safe and they quickly became close friends.
Madison was eager to start his new life, but finding work wasn't easy. People saw him as an Ala Mhigan refugee because of the ongoing war in Gyr Abania, making it hard for him to land jobs. Recognizing Madison's plight, Zohar suggested that he register as an adventurer at the Adventurer's Guild for better opportunities.
